The Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab

::

Don LaFontaine was known as much for his generosity as for being the most successful voice-over artist in history. The Screen Actors Guild Foundation is therefore proud to announce a new addition to our Actors Center in Hollywood – one that honors this legendary artist and helps keep alive his legacy of giving back. The “DLF Lab” will feature:
- 2 state of the art recording booths
- An engineering area that will double as a classroom.
- A working studio environment where actors may practice, record auditions, or work on demos…all at no cost.
- A space where many of the best voice-over professionals in the world (on both sides of the mic), will donate their time to teach or serve on the Advisory Board, making the lab a major center for the voice-over community, where all facets of voice-over can meet, study and inspire.

The SAG Foundation is NOT part of SAG and while many of our programs are open only to SAG members in good standing, many others are available to any entertainment union professional.  The Voice Over Lab would certainly be the latter.

Currently a majority of our programs and the Actors Center itself is open to SAG, AFTRA and Equity actors. I will forward your concerns to the Advisory Board. Thank you for keeping us in the loop.
Best,
Nurit

The Don Lafontaine Voiceover Lab at the SAG Foundation
George Whittam is honored to be the studio designer for the project, and the design is in the midst of finalization as this letter is written.  If you hadn't heard about this project, here's a little bit of info from Paul Pape, Don's long time friend and creator of this Lab:

"In the spirit of Don's unwavering support of voice-over actors, and as a tribute to a man who gave so much to his profession, The Screen Actors Guild Foundation is extremely proud to announce plans for The Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab.  To be located and built in a newly acquired space at the Actors Center the lab will feature a fully equipped sound studio, including two state of the art recording booths.  Aspring voice-over actors will be allowed to work on their craft, recording auditions and work on demos - all at no cost.  The Lab will likely become a major center for the voice-over community- where all facets of the voiceover world on both since of the mic can meet, learn, teach and inspire.  With the lab doubling as a classroom, some of the best voiceover artsits in the world will teach, host seminars or give demonstrations.  Many are already substantial donors to the Lab and serce on the Advisory Board.  Casting directors, network marketing execs, producers, agents, engineers, and others have already signed on in support of the Lab's goals.  Please join us in welcoming and supporting a most wonderful addition to our efforts, The Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab."

Please come out in support of the DLF Lab by attending the Garden Party Fundraiser!
